Underlord vs Alchemist

How this matchup plays

Fighting into an Underlord as Alchemist often feels like you're hitting with a wet noodle. Atrophy Aura directly reduces Alchemist's base damage, which is his main source of output during Chemical Rage. This makes it much harder for him to man-fight and burst down targets. In return, Alchemist's Acid Spray is a constant threat to Underlord. The armor reduction makes Underlord's large health pool melt away surprisingly fast to physical attacks from Alchemist's whole team. Both heroes directly challenge what the other wants to do in a fight, leading to a standoff where neither has a clear upper hand.

The matchup often comes down to a race of timings. Alchemist wants to use Greevil's Greed to farm items far ahead of the curve and end the game early. Underlord, on the other hand, excels at slowing the game down. He can shove waves constantly with Firestorm, making it difficult for Alchemist to group up and take objectives. If Alchemist can't secure a big enough lead to break high ground against Firestorm and Pit of Malice, the game often swings back. But if the Alchemist gets his core items early, he can run over Underlord before the late game arrives.
