Underlord vs Bristleback

How this matchup plays

Farming the lane against each other often feels like a stalemate. Underlord's Atrophy Aura makes it difficult for Bristleback to trade right-clicks effectively, cutting his damage before he can build momentum. In return, Bristleback gets free Quill Spray stacks from every spell Underlord casts to secure creeps or zone him out. Both heroes are great at sitting in a lane and being a nuisance, but neither has a simple way to force the other out. Bristleback can turn his back to mitigate damage from Firestorm, and Underlord is tanky enough to absorb the early quill stacks.

Later on, this dynamic continues in teamfights. Both Underlord and Bristleback want to be the unkillable frontline, creating space and applying area pressure. They often end up ignoring each other to focus on more vulnerable targets, or they get locked into a long fight where neither can secure a kill. The outcome usually depends on which hero's team can better exploit the space their tank is making. Underlord’s Pit of Malice can hold Bristleback in place, but without strong follow-up, he’ll often survive and walk away. It’s a true stand-off.
