Underlord vs Jakiro

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes when the other is in the game is usually a mistake, regardless of which team they are on. Jakiro is all about controlling space from a safe distance with layered spells like Ice Path and Macropyre. Underlord is the opposite; he wants to be right in the middle of the fight, soaking damage and being a nuisance. This core conflict is why they don't work well together, and it's also why Underlord is so effective against Jakiro. He can simply walk through the fire and slow, and his Pit of Malice is perfect for interrupting Jakiro’s long cast animations.

As the game goes on, Jakiro finds it almost impossible to establish a safe position to cast from. Atrophy Aura makes Underlord incredibly tough to bring down, extending fights in his favor. Underlord doesn't need to respect Jakiro's spells and can freely pressure towers or heroes. If Jakiro tries to create a defensive line with Macropyre, Underlord can use Fiend's Gate to teleport his team past the danger and onto Jakiro himself. For Jakiro to succeed, his team needs to burst Underlord from afar, which is a tall order against a hero designed to survive exactly that.
