Underlord vs Keeper of the Light

How this matchup plays

Controlling the lane’s tempo is the core of this matchup. Keeper of the Light uses Illuminate to constantly shove the creep wave, forcing Underlord to farm under his tower. This can starve Underlord of early gold and makes it harder for him to stack Atrophy Aura damage. Keeper’s Blinding Light also poses a problem, as it can push Underlord out of his own Firestorm or prevent him from closing the distance. Underlord’s response is to survive and capitalize on mistakes. His Pit of Malice is a death sentence if Keeper ever gets caught out of position, but the long range of Illuminate often keeps him safe.

The game becomes a race of different timers. Keeper of the Light wants to leverage his early lane control into fast towers and map pressure for his team. He excels at defending high ground and dragging out sieges, creating space by constantly pushing lanes. Underlord, on the other hand, is content to endure the early phase. Once he has a few core items, he becomes an incredibly durable front-liner. He can use Fiend's Gate to bypass Keeper's defensive lines and force fights on his own terms, making the matchup depend heavily on which team can execute its strategy first.
