How this matchup plays

Fighting into an Underlord presents a constant problem for Muerta. His Atrophy Aura is always active in a teamfight, passively reducing the physical damage she deals. This softens her impact considerably, especially before she has key items online. While her ultimate, Pierce the Veil, allows her to bypass this damage reduction by converting her attacks to magical, it's a long cooldown she can’t always have ready. The aura’s constant presence means Muerta is often fighting at a disadvantage unless her ultimate is available.

This dynamic shapes the flow of the mid and late game. Underlord wants to be in the middle of every fight, creating a zone where Muerta is less effective. In response, Muerta is often forced to play around her ultimate's availability, avoiding full commitments until she can activate Pierce the Veil. This gives Underlord’s team windows to control the map and pressure objectives. If Muerta is caught without her ultimate, her ability to contribute meaningfully is hampered, tilting the engagement in her opponent's favor.
