How this matchup plays

Getting caught out at night by Night Stalker is often a death sentence for Underlord. The core issue is Crippling Fear; the large silencing area it creates completely prevents Underlord from casting his defensive spells like Pit of Malice or using Fiend's Gate to escape. A silenced Underlord is an easy target, and Night Stalker has all the tools to finish the job with the speed and attack bonuses from Hunter in the Night. Underlord relies on casting spells to control fights and survive, and Night Stalker takes that ability away for a critical duration.

This dynamic forces Underlord to play cautiously once the sun sets. He can't safely push lanes or farm the jungle alone, as a roaming Night Stalker will find and kill him with little counterplay. Underlord's response is usually to group with his team much earlier than he'd like and build items that might help him survive the initial silence. Meanwhile, Night Stalker dictates the tempo of the game, forcing Underlord into a reactive posture that severely limits his impact and ability to create space for his own team.
