Underlord vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Building momentum is incredibly difficult for Puck in this matchup. Underlord's Firestorm constantly shoves the lane, forcing Puck to burn mana on creep waves instead of rotating for kills. This consistent pressure denies Puck the early tempo the hero thrives on. The core issue, however, is Pit of Malice. A hero like Puck relies entirely on mobility spells like Illusory Orb and Phase Shift to survive, but the instant root from the Pit locks Puck down completely. Getting caught once is usually a death sentence, as Puck lacks the health to withstand the follow-up damage.

This advantage for Underlord translates directly into map control. After taking an early tower, Underlord can push into the enemy jungle, shrinking the map for a farm-dependent Puck. In mid-game teamfights, Puck wants to dart in and out, but Underlord's area denial makes this impossible. Puck is forced to play on the fringes, unable to commit to a Dream Coil initiation without risking getting trapped by Pit of Malice. Puck's only real option is to avoid Underlord and try to pick off isolated supports.
