Underlord vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Playing as Sand King into Underlord feels like every one of your big plays has a simple, built-in answer. Trying to channel a game-winning Epicenter is met with an instant Pit of Malice, rooting you in place and wasting the entire spell. Hiding in Sand Storm to reposition or deal damage is pointless when Underlord can blanket the area with Firestorm, forcing you out or killing you while you're invisible. His entire kit seems designed to neutralize exactly what Sand King wants to do, disrupting burst initiation with sustained, area-denial control.

The trouble starts in the lane, where Atrophy Aura makes securing last hits a constant struggle for a melee hero. Later on, your team can't rely on Burrowstrike initiations because Underlord is always positioned to shut them down. The only real option is to try and bait out Pit of Malice or kill Underlord before you go in, but his natural tankiness makes that difficult. Meanwhile, Underlord's team can play aggressively around his control, knowing that the primary threat from your side is easily managed.
