Underlord vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Picking either of these heroes into the other creates a standoff over area control. Underlord wants to lock down a zone with Firestorm and Pit of Malice, which is also an effective way to clear out Techies' mines from a safe distance. The problem is that Underlord is a slow hero who has to eventually walk into the areas he's trying to secure. This makes him a predictable target for mine stacks. Techies can also use Blast Off to escape Pit of Malice, often avoiding the intended lockdown and leaving Underlord out of position.

The game then revolves around which hero can better dictate the terms of engagement. A successful Underlord will use his team's vision to methodically push and clear dangerous areas, frustrating the Techies' game plan. A successful Techies, however, preys on this slow, deliberate movement by anticipating rotations and pathways. Fiend's Gate becomes a high-risk tool, as a teleport into an un-scouted area can be disastrous. The matchup often comes down to which team has better vision and discipline.
