How this matchup plays

Catching Alchemist while he's trying to accelerate his farm is Chaos Knight's main goal. The combination of Reality Rift to close the gap and Chaos Bolt for the lockdown can prevent Alchemist from activating Chemical Rage in time. With his Phantasm illusions, Chaos Knight has the physical burst needed to kill a hero who is naturally fragile without his ultimate. Alchemist often has to play greedily to get ahead, leaving him exposed on the map and vulnerable to this kind of aggressive pickoff attempt, especially in the mid-game.

The entire matchup is a race against the clock. Chaos Knight has a clear window to punish Alchemist's farming patterns and build a lead from kills. If he and his team can repeatedly find and kill Alchemist, they can shut him down. Alchemist's path to victory is to survive this pressure. If he can safely farm his core items, the regeneration from Chemical Rage allows him to tank Chaos Knight's initial assault. Once farmed, his area damage from Acid Spray and other items can quickly clear the illusions, turning the fight in his favor.
