Alchemist vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

Surviving Kunkka's full combo is the main story in this matchup. Alchemist can often tank the initial burst from Torrent and Ghostship simply by activating Chemical Rage. The massive health regeneration lets him shrug off the damage and either walk away or turn the fight. Once Kunkka has committed his spells, he has very little follow-up to secure a kill against a regenerating target. This neutralizes a lot of the solo kill pressure Kunkka relies on to get ahead, as Alchemist's ultimate directly counters that front-loaded damage plan.

This dynamic makes it difficult for Kunkka to shut down Alchemist's farm after the laning stage. An Alchemist that can't be reliably solo-killed is free to accelerate his item progression across the map. Kunkka is forced to rely more on his teammates to bring enough lockdown and burst to overwhelm Chemical Rage. A well-placed X-Marks-the-Spot can still pull Alchemist into a gank, but the typical combo that deletes other heroes often isn't enough here. Alchemist can usually play with a bit more confidence, knowing he has a direct answer to Kunkka's primary threat.
