Alchemist vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Controlling the pace of the game often comes down to which core gets their items first. Alchemist is designed to out-farm almost anyone, meaning he hits his power spikes much earlier than Muerta can. When they eventually fight, Muerta's main tool for killing tanky heroes is Pierce the Veil, which turns her attacks into magic damage. Against Alchemist, this isn't as clean a solution as it seems. His Chemical Rage provides so much raw health regeneration that he can often simply sustain through her ultimate's duration, especially since he doesn't typically rely on high armor that her ultimate would otherwise ignore.

This timing difference defines the matchup. Alchemist will look to group with his team and pressure objectives long before Muerta has her essential damage and survivability items online. For Muerta to succeed, her team needs to stall the game and protect her farm. Her path to victory involves getting enough control, perhaps from a Scythe of Vyse, to lock Alchemist down and prevent his regeneration from taking over a fight. If he can be kited or chain-stunned, Muerta can bring him down, which keeps the matchup from being too one-sided.
