Alchemist vs Outworld Destroyer

How this matchup plays

Dealing with Chemical Rage often requires sustained damage, but Outworld Destroyer has a very specific burst tool. Sanity's Eclipse does more damage when the target has low mana, and Alchemist has one of the worst mana pools in the game. This makes him a perfect target on paper. The problem is that Chemical Rage also provides extreme health regeneration. If Alchemist survives the initial burst from Eclipse, he can heal through the follow-up Arcane Orb damage and turn the fight. It's a direct clash between Outworld Destroyer's nuke potential and Alchemist's survivability.

The matchup usually comes down to an item race. Alchemist uses Greevil's Greed to accelerate into items like a Black King Bar, which makes it much harder for OD to control him with Astral Imprisonment. On the other side, Outworld Destroyer needs to hit his own item timings to be able to lock down and burst Alchemist before he gets too tanky. Whichever hero gets the jump and secures their core items first tends to have the advantage in mid-game fights, but the lead is rarely secure. The dynamic is very back-and-forth and depends heavily on execution.
