Alchemist vs Ogre Magi

How this matchup plays

Laning against an Ogre Magi is often a miserable experience for Alchemist. Ogre's constant Ignite harass makes it dangerous to secure last hits, even with the help of Acid Spray. A well-timed Fireblast can also cancel Unstable Concoction, completely ruining a gank attempt or escape. However, Alchemist is built to recover from a poor start. Greevil's Greed ensures he can catch up on farm with only a little space, and the massive regeneration from Chemical Rage allows him to shrug off Ogre's constant poking once he gets a few levels.

The game then becomes a race. Ogre Magi's team needs to capitalize on his strong laning phase to repeatedly gank Alchemist and delay his core items. If they can’t build a significant lead and pressure the map, Alchemist will inevitably hit a critical mass of farm. A farmed Alchemist can typically stand his ground, tanking Ogre's spells and overpowering him with high physical damage. The outcome really depends on whether the early-game pressure is enough to shut Alchemist down for good.
