Alchemist vs Phoenix

How this matchup plays

Fighting a farmed Alchemist often comes down to weathering the storm of his Chemical Rage. Phoenix has abilities that can make this less overwhelming. The attack speed slow from Fire Spirits is a direct answer to the steroid Alchemist gets, softening his physical damage output considerably. Sun Ray also provides consistent, long-range pressure that wears down high-health heroes, meaning Alchemist can't simply rely on his ultimate's regeneration to stay in the fight. These tools don't stop Alchemist, but they do make him more manageable.

This dynamic creates a difficult choice for Alchemist during mid-game teamfights. Committing with Chemical Rage can be risky if Phoenix is ready with Supernova. This forces Alchemist into a bad spot: either he tries to hit the egg with his attack speed lowered, or he has to back off and waste his ultimate's duration. Neither outcome is ideal. Alchemist can still win by bursting Phoenix before he can act or by having his team help control him, but the constant threat of Supernova forces a more cautious approach and gives Phoenix a slight edge in engagements.
