Alchemist vs Tidehunter

How this matchup plays

Fighting into a Tidehunter can be frustrating for an Alchemist. Anchor Smash reduces Alchemist's base damage, slowing his farm and hitting power, while Kraken Shell shrugs off both the armor reduction from Acid Spray and the stun from Unstable Concoction. This makes Tidehunter incredibly difficult to burst down. However, Alchemist's primary goal isn't necessarily to kill his opponent. He's more interested in accelerating his own economy, and Tidehunter doesn't have a reliable way to stop him from clearing waves and disappearing into the jungle to build a massive item advantage.

The matchup typically becomes a race of competing objectives. Alchemist wants to hit his item timings as fast as possible to start pressuring towers and Roshan. In response, Tidehunter will aim for a quick Blink Dagger to initiate with Ravage and punish Alchemist for grouping with his team. The game's outcome often depends on which hero can better execute their plan.
