Farming ancient stacks with Acid Spray feels like a free win for Alchemist, since Treant Protector has no real way to contest that part of the map. Treant can't clear stacks or flash-farm, so he can't keep up with Alchemist's gold acceleration. The trade-off is that Treant isn't trying to match farm. While Alchemist is isolated and building his net worth, Treant Protector is using Nature's Guise to move around the map, setting up kills on Alchemist's more vulnerable teammates and applying pressure everywhere else with Living Armor. It becomes a race between gold and map control.

This dynamic usually forces Alchemist to hit an early power spike and start fighting. The game's outcome often hinges on whether Alchemist can close things out with his item advantage before Treant's team comes online. Treant's job is to enable his team to survive that initial timing. A good Overgrowth can completely stop Alchemist's aggression, especially before he can afford spell immunity.
