Alchemist vs Viper

How this matchup plays

Facing Viper in lane often forces Alchemist away from the creeps entirely. The constant slow and damage from Poison Attack makes it nearly impossible for a melee hero to secure last hits without taking heavy punishment. However, Alchemist's entire game plan accounts for this. He can abandon a lost lane and use Greevil's Greed to flash-farm jungle camps, quickly recovering and often pulling ahead in net worth anyway. Viper wins the direct confrontation, but Alchemist can simply choose not to fight on those terms.

The mid-game becomes a race. Viper tries to leverage his early lead by hunting with Viper Strike, hoping to kite and kill Alchemist before he gets his key items. Alchemist, in turn, focuses on hitting his timings. Once he has a way to deal with the slows and magic damage, often with a Black King Bar, he can turn the tables. A successful Unstable Concoction stun is usually a death sentence for Viper, who lacks an escape. The matchup often comes down to which hero hits their power spike first and forces a fight on their own terms.
