How this matchup plays

Pushing lanes and taking towers is difficult for either side in this matchup. Batrider can't safely fly into a grouped-up team when Lina can drop Light Strike Array on his landing spot, instantly stopping his initiation. A stunned Batrider is a dead Batrider. On the other hand, Lina is a fragile hero, and a successful Flaming Lasso is almost always fatal for her. She is forced to play from extreme range, relying on her team to be a wall between her and the Batrider. This creates a standoff between a powerful initiation and an equally strong counter-initiation.

The result is often a slower mid-game where both teams are waiting for a mistake. Batrider needs his team to provide vision so he can find Lina isolated, while Lina needs her team to stay grouped so she is never an easy target. The advantage swings based on who finishes a key item first. If Batrider gets a Black King Bar, he has a window to go in without fear. If Lina gets a defensive item like a Eul's Scepter, she can often survive his attempts. It really comes down to which hero gets to set the terms of engagement.
