Batrider vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Lassoing an enemy hero usually guarantees a kill, but trying to do so against Slark is often a mistake. The core of Batrider's entire kit, Sticky Napalm, is completely undone by Dark Pact. Slark can purge all the stacks you’ve carefully built up, turning what should be a lethal Firefly dive into a minor inconvenience. This makes it nearly impossible for Batrider to secure kills or even apply pressure in lane. If Batrider ever does commit with Firefly, Slark can simply use Pounce to get away safely, leaving the Batrider exposed and having wasted his biggest cooldown.

This problem gets worse as the game progresses. Once Batrider gets a Blink Dagger, he wants to initiate, but Slark is one of the worst possible targets. Even if Batrider lands a perfect Lasso and pulls him back, Slark is slippery enough to survive the initial burst. The moment he's free, he can use Shadow Dance to recover his health and turn the fight around completely. Batrider has to rely on his team being in the perfect position for the play to work, whereas Slark can often reverse the gank and kill the isolated Batrider all by himself.
