Laning as Shadow Fiend against a Bloodseeker feels like walking on a tightrope. Every last hit requires getting into a position to use Shadowraze, which exposes him to harass. Any health Shadow Fiend loses from trades or ganks directly empowers Bloodseeker through Thirst, making him faster and stronger. This creates a difficult cycle where trying to farm and build souls only makes the opponent more dangerous. Blood Rite adds another layer of threat, forcing Shadow Fiend out of position or silencing him when he tries to fight back.

This pressure continues across the map as the game progresses. Once Bloodseeker gets Rupture, Shadow Fiend has no good answer without specific items.
