Bounty Hunter vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

A lot of players think Kunkka can win a straight fight against Bounty Hunter, and while he can, that misses the point. The real problem for Kunkka is Track. Kunkka relies on careful positioning to land his Torrent and Ghostship combos, often from the fog of war. Bounty Hunter completely denies this by applying Track, giving his whole team vision of the admiral. Kunkka has no way to hide, juke, or wait out cooldowns safely once he's marked. This forces him to either commit to a fight at a disadvantage or try to run, which he's not very good at.

This pressure starts early. A roaming Bounty Hunter can force Kunkka to spend a lot of gold on detection in lane, slowing down his item progression. In mid-game teamfights, Bounty Hunter’s job is to find and Track Kunkka before he can set up his devastating combo. This makes his initiation predictable and allows the enemy team to focus him down first. While Kunkka can certainly delete a careless Bounty Hunter with a good Tidebringer cleave, the constant vision and threat of a pick-off usually gives Bounty Hunter's team a small but consistent advantage.
