Bounty Hunter vs Shadow Fiend

How this matchup plays

Trying to build up souls in lane or find a flank later on is a major risk for Shadow Fiend in this matchup. Bounty Hunter specializes in hunting fragile heroes, and Shadow Fiend's low starting armor and reliance on positioning make him a prime target. Getting hit with Track nullifies a Shadow Blade and makes it much harder for him to find a safe angle for Requiem of Souls. Early ganks are also particularly damaging, as dying causes Shadow Fiend to lose a significant portion of his damage and farming speed.

The game often becomes a race against the clock. The Bounty Hunter's team will use the vision and gold from Track to repeatedly pressure and pick off Shadow Fiend, trying to snowball before he can get key items. In response, Shadow Fiend has to play much more cautiously, relying on his team's vision and support to farm up a Black King Bar. Once he has spell immunity, he can often ignore Bounty Hunter's disruption in a fight and deal his damage, meaning if he weathers the early storm, he still has a clear path to winning the game.
