Bounty Hunter vs Sand King

How this matchup plays

Getting the jump on the enemy team is Sand King's entire game plan, and Bounty Hunter makes that very difficult. So much of Sand King's value comes from initiating with a surprise Burrowstrike or finding a safe spot to channel Epicenter from within Sand Storm. Track provides constant vision that foils both of these goals. It makes his Blink Dagger initiations predictable, giving your team time to spread out or counter-initiate. The vision also renders Sand Storm useless as an escape tool, allowing him to be easily targeted and killed after he commits. Bounty Hunter effectively strips away the element of surprise that Sand King relies on.

This dynamic forces Sand King to play much more cautiously. Instead of leading the charge, he often has to wait for fights to become chaotic before he can safely use his spells, or rely on his team to protect him from Bounty Hunter. If a Track gets applied before a fight, Bounty Hunter’s team can coordinate to burst Sand King down before he gets a full Epicenter off. The matchup isn't unwinnable for Sand King, as a well-timed combo can still devastate a team, but Bounty Hunter forces him to work much harder for openings that are normally free.
