Bounty Hunter vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Hunting for a solo Warlock seems like a free kill, but the reality is more complicated. Bounty Hunter's entire kit is designed to find and burst isolated heroes, and Warlock, being slow and fragile, is a textbook target. The vision and bonus gold from Track make him a profitable one, too. This forces Warlock to play much more defensively, as he has no natural escape to survive being scouted and jumped from Shadow Walk. He becomes completely reliant on his team's protection and defensive vision, unable to safely place wards or position for his spells.

This pressure defines the matchup from the mid-game onward. Bounty Hunter’s job is to assassinate Warlock before a fight begins, removing Chaotic Offering from the equation. Warlock's team must play protect-the-president, grouping up and using sentries to foil the hunt. The situation only slightly favors Bounty Hunter because if he fails to secure the kill instantly, he's in deep trouble. A timely Upheaval can trap him for a counterattack, and if Warlock survives long enough to summon his Golem, the ensuing teamfight becomes very difficult for a squishy melee hero like Bounty Hunter to navigate.
