Bristleback vs Chaos Knight

How this matchup plays

Clearing out Phantasm illusions is often a matter of a few Quill Sprays for Bristleback, making it difficult for Chaos Knight to overwhelm a target. The repeated AoE damage quickly deals with the extra bodies. However, Chaos Knight has his own answers. Reality Rift can pull Bristleback in and force him to face forward, bypassing his damage reduction. A long stun from Chaos Bolt can then lock him in that vulnerable position, giving Chaos Knight a window to apply his full burst damage with whatever illusions remain.

The lane and later fights often become a test of positioning and who gets the jump. If Chaos Knight can isolate Bristleback and land his combo with allies nearby, he can often secure the kill before Bristleback becomes a major problem. Bristleback’s goal is to survive that initial burst, knowing he can kite and wear Chaos Knight down once Phantasm is on cooldown and the illusions are gone. The outcome usually depends on which hero has better backup or catches the other out of position.
