Choosing one of these heroes into the other rarely feels like a decisive counter-pick. Dragon Knight has an ideal tool in Dragon Tail, a long stun that can lock Bristleback down and expose his front to allies. It's a textbook way to initiate on him. The problem is that Dragon Knight himself lacks the burst damage to capitalize on this alone. If his team doesn't follow up immediately, Bristleback can easily survive and turn the fight around, grinding down even a tanky DK with sustained Quill Sprays and armor-reducing Goo.

This dynamic leads to a standoff in most phases of the game. In lane, they mostly ignore each other and farm, as neither has a real way to threaten a kill on the other. Later on, teamfights hinge entirely on the follow-up to Dragon Tail. If Dragon Knight's team can coordinate a burst, they can win the engagement. If they fail, Bristleback walks out of the stun and runs over the fight. The winner is usually decided by the other eight heroes on the map, not by this specific matchup.
