Bristleback vs Faceless Void

How this matchup plays

Getting caught inside Chronosphere is a real problem for Bristleback. He's unable to turn his back to protect himself, which means all incoming attacks hit his front and deal full damage, completely bypassing his core defensive mechanic. This allows Faceless Void and his team to focus him down quickly, something that's usually very difficult. Time Dilation adds to the problem by increasing the cooldowns on Quill Spray and Nasal Goo, cutting down Bristleback's damage output and his ability to stack up armor reduction and slows on enemies.

The whole game hinges on whether Faceless Void can land a good ultimate. If Bristleback gets caught out of position, he's a liability. But if he plays carefully, builds enough health and armor to survive the duration, or baits the Chronosphere for his team to counter-attack, he can still be effective. Bristleback wants to run at Void's team long before that ultimate is a threat, creating pressure and forcing awkward fights. It often comes down to which hero's team better enables their win condition.
