Bristleback vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other often feels like a trade-off. Kunkka has excellent tools to manage a Bristleback, primarily with X Marks the Spot. He can use it to prevent Bristleback from chasing his team or to pull him back into a bad position. This kiting potential is a direct answer to what Bristleback wants to do. At the same time, Kunkka relies heavily on Tidebringer for his physical damage output. Bristleback's passive ability makes him naturally resilient to this, as he'll frequently take that damage from the side or back in a teamfight, severely reducing its impact.

The matchup becomes a game of execution. A successful Kunkka will focus on controlling Bristleback, using his combo to set up kills on more fragile heroes while keeping the durable offlaner at a safe distance. If Bristleback can close the gap, however, he puts Kunkka under immense pressure. Kunkka doesn't have a reliable escape once Bristleback is on top of him and stacking Quill Sprays. This makes positioning and cooldown management critical for both sides, with neither hero having a built-in, decisive edge over the other.
