Bristleback vs Puck

How this matchup plays

Getting caught by Bristleback is a nightmare for Puck. Puck wants to deliver quick magical burst and then escape, but Bristleback completely shuts down that game plan. He easily soaks up the initial damage and turns the fight into a drawn-out brawl where he has the advantage. The constant, stacking damage from Quill Spray quickly wears down a fragile hero like Puck, while Viscous Nasal Goo negates Puck's primary advantage of being mobile. Dream Coil, Puck's best lockdown spell, often feels wasted as Bristleback is perfectly happy to be held in place and continue spamming his spells.

This dynamic forces Puck to play from a huge distance for the entire game. Any attempt to play aggressively with Illusory Orb or Waning Rift can be punished the moment Bristleback decides to turn and run at him. While Puck’s team tries to fight the front line, Bristleback can often ignore them and make a direct path for the supports and a vulnerable Puck. To have a chance, Puck needs allies to provide all the lockdown and sustained damage required to kill Bristleback, because Puck's own kit contributes very little to that specific job.
