Bristleback vs Queen of Pain

How this matchup plays

Picking a hero like Queen of Pain into Bristleback often means bringing the wrong tool for the job. Her initial magical burst from Scream of Pain isn't as effective as she would like. Bristleback can turn his back after her initial volley, taking less damage from her follow-up attacks while he stacks Quill Sprays. Although Sonic Wave's pure damage can be a threat, it has a long cooldown. Queen of Pain needs to commit her Blink and her entire combo for a chance at a solo kill, and even then, he frequently survives the attempt, leaving her exposed.

This dynamic forces Queen of Pain to play cautiously. She can't reliably assassinate Bristleback, so she has to focus on his allies or wait for him to be heavily controlled by her team. Her mobility is her saving grace, allowing her to kite him and escape if he gets close with Viscous Nasal Goo. Bristleback, meanwhile, is happy to absorb her spells and then run her down or force her out of the fight entirely. He disrupts her preferred playstyle, forcing her to react to him instead of controlling the engagement.
