Bristleback vs Weaver

How this matchup plays

Trying to kite and poke with Weaver feels impossible against a Bristleback. The whole game plan for Weaver is to use Shukuchi to stay safe, but a single cast of Viscous Nasal Goo sticks on him and makes that escape worthless. He's too slow to get away and too fragile to survive the Quill Spray stacks that pile up as Bristleback runs him down. Even trying to attack from behind to get a quick kill is a bad idea, as Bristleback’s passive reduces Weaver's physical damage and punishes him with even more quills. There isn't an angle from which Weaver can safely fight him.

This dynamic makes teamfights incredibly difficult. Weaver is forced to play on the absolute edge of the fight, because the constant spray of quills will melt him if he gets close. Bristleback can often ignore Weaver entirely and run at more important targets, knowing Weaver can't do enough damage to threaten him. If Weaver does commit for an attack, Bristleback can simply turn, apply Goo, and force a Time Lapse or a kill. Weaver is left with no good options for contributing to a fight where a Bristleback is present and unchecked.
