Centaur Warrunner vs Faceless Void

How this matchup plays

Catching Centaur Warrunner in a Chronosphere completely neutralizes his teamfight presence. He can't use Hoof Stomp to peel or Stampede to save an ally, leaving his team exposed. This interaction is the main reason Faceless Void can find an advantage. However, Centaur’s own durability makes him a poor solo target for Void. It takes a lot of time and damage to bring him down inside the sphere, time that Void might not have. This gives Centaur a fighting chance, as he can often survive being locked down, even if his teammates cannot.

The matchup often boils down to who initiates first. A successful Blink Dagger into Hoof Stomp on Faceless Void can prevent Chronosphere from ever being used, turning the fight heavily in Centaur's favor. On the other hand, if Void finds a good Chronosphere on Centaur’s cores, there’s little the offlaner can do to intervene. Outside of his ultimate, Void has to respect Centaur's high health and the return damage from Retaliate, especially in the mid-game. It’s a constant battle for positioning where a single misstep decides the engagement.
