Centaur Warrunner vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

Trading blows in lane often feels like a stalemate. Kunkka wants to harass with Tidebringer, but splashing onto Centaur Warrunner means taking a lot of damage back from Retaliate. This discourages Kunkka from playing aggressively, as Centaur is too durable to be scared off by a single Torrent. The result is a lane where neither hero can easily secure an advantage, instead focusing on farming and waiting for support from their teammates.

This dynamic continues into the mid-game. Kunkka’s plan to catch a key target with X Marks the Spot is less effective against Centaur, who can usually survive the initial burst damage. After the spells are used, Centaur is free to turn the fight around with a Hoof Stomp or use Stampede to either escape or counter-initiate. The success of any gank attempt really comes down to which side has better positioning and follow-up, making fights between them very unpredictable.
