Centaur Warrunner vs Necrophos

How this matchup plays

Building a massive health pool is Centaur Warrunner's entire game plan, and Heartstopper Aura punishes him directly for it. The constant health drain wears him down throughout a fight, making him a prime target for Reaper's Scythe. This turns Centaur’s greatest strength—his immense durability—into a major liability. Necrophos thrives against heroes who want to stand their ground and soak up damage, and Centaur fits that description perfectly. After using his own spells, he's often exactly where Necrophos wants him to be.

The pressure starts in the lane, where the passive damage makes it difficult for Centaur to trade effectively or even stay healthy. Later in the game, a successful Stampede initiation can quickly fall apart. After blinking in, using his spells, and taking some return damage, Centaur is often brought low enough for Necrophos to remove him from the fight with a single ultimate. Centaur’s team is then left without a frontline. While building heavy magic resistance helps, Necrophos can usually survive the initial burst with Ghost Shroud and Death Pulse.
