Centaur Warrunner vs Nyx Assassin

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock someone down as Centaur Warrunner gets complicated when Nyx Assassin is on the other team. Centaur relies on Hoof Stomp to start fights, but his mana pool is small, making him a prime target for Mana Burn. Without mana, he loses his only reliable stun and becomes much less of a threat. Even if he does get a Stomp off, a well-timed Spiked Carapace can negate the follow-up Double Edge, stunning Centaur and reflecting his own damage back at him. This turns his main offensive combo into a potential liability.

This dynamic forces Centaur to be more reactive. He can’t confidently blink-stomp into the enemy team without first knowing where Nyx is or if Spiked Carapace is on cooldown. Nyx can roam freely, knowing he has a good way to disrupt Centaur's initiation. Centaur can still be effective by using his ultimate to engage or disengage, or by building items to survive the burst, but the constant threat from Nyx Assassin makes his job of starting fights noticeably harder.
