Centaur Warrunner vs Outworld Destroyer

How this matchup plays

Controlling the same area of the map feels risky for both of these heroes. Outworld Destroyer's Arcane Orb deals pure damage, which is a good tool for cutting through the massive health pool that Centaur Warrunner relies on. The catch is that OD has to stand his ground to attack, making him a prime target for a Blink Dagger into Hoof Stomp. This initiation from Centaur can be completely shut down by a quick Astral Imprisonment, however, which can save OD and leave Centaur out of position and helpless. The initial engagement often comes down to who has the faster reaction.

Later on, the dynamic escalates to the team level. Centaur will use Stampede to close the distance and try to overwhelm Outworld Destroyer before he can respond. The plan is a fast, decisive burst. In turn, OD's team needs to position around him to absorb that charge, while he holds his Astral Imprisonment to counter the primary initiator. If Centaur’s team can’t secure the kill during the stun, OD gets to turn the fight around, kiting with his pure damage and potentially wiping the enemy team with Sanity's Eclipse once their mana is gone.
