Centaur Warrunner vs Phoenix

How this matchup plays

Trying to brute-force a fight against Phoenix often leaves Centaur Warrunner feeling ineffective. Centaur relies on his huge health pool to initiate and soak damage, but Phoenix's main tools are built to counter that exact strategy. Sun Ray deals damage based on health, turning Centaur's biggest asset into a weakness. At the same time, Fire Spirits slow down attack speed, making it much harder for his team to follow up on a Stampede initiation, especially if they need to break a Supernova egg.

This dynamic forces Centaur to play a more calculated game. Instead of simply running at the enemy, his team needs to find a way to burst Phoenix before he can get his spells off, or wait for Supernova to be on cooldown. Phoenix, on the other hand, is happy to kite and wear Centaur down from a safe distance. A well-timed jump can still secure a kill for Centaur, but Phoenix generally makes it difficult for him to execute his simple, effective game plan.
