Centaur Warrunner vs Riki

How this matchup plays

Thinking you can simply out-tank Riki is a common mistake. Centaur Warrunner's massive health pool and Return passive look good on paper against a physical attacker, but Riki dictates the terms of the fight. A well-placed Smoke Screen is the key here; the silence prevents Centaur from using Hoof Stomp or Double Edge, and the miss chance makes trading right-clicks a losing proposition. Riki can use his mobility to stay on the edge of the fight, chipping away without taking the full brunt of Return damage, and he decides when the engagement is over.

This dynamic means Riki often sets the tempo of the game. While Centaur can be a strong laner, he becomes a potential target once Riki starts roaming. Pushing out a lane alone makes Centaur vulnerable, and even if Stampede can get him out of trouble, Riki can use that same window to go on a squishier ally.
