Centaur Warrunner vs Slark

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock down a Slark with Hoof Stomp often feels pointless, because he can purge the stun with a well-timed Dark Pact. This single interaction undercuts Centaur Warrunner's main job as an initiator, preventing easy setups for his team. Slark also gets a lot out of extended brawls against the durable Centaur. Every hit steals stats with Essence Shift, making Slark stronger while chipping away at Centaur's health pool and damage. What starts as an even trade can quickly turn into a lost fight.

Centaur Warrunner can't really play to directly counter the Slark. His focus has to shift to enabling his team against other targets. Stampede is still a powerful tool for closing the distance on Slark's supports or for saving an ally who gets Pounced. Centaur is forced to either use Hoof Stomp on a less critical hero or wait for a teammate's silence or hex to land first. This puts the pressure on Centaur’s team to provide the lockdown he normally would, giving Slark a bit more freedom to operate.
