Centaur Warrunner vs Spirit Breaker

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes often feels like you're trying to do the same thing as the other: provide global presence and start fights. The slight edge for Spirit Breaker comes from his tools being a bit better at forcing the issue. Bulldoze's status resistance lets him shrug off a portion of Hoof Stomp's duration, often giving him enough time to get his own spells off. While Centaur Warrunner is a terrible target to charge thanks to his raw health and Return passive, Spirit Breaker can simply ignore him and go for a support in the backline, forcing Centaur's hand.

The matchup revolves around who gets to initiate first. A well-timed Stampede from Centaur can save an ally from a Charge of Darkness or turn a gank around completely. However, Spirit Breaker usually gets to pick his engagement, and his lockdown is very fast. If Centaur isn't positioned correctly to immediately follow up with a stun, Spirit Breaker's target is often dead before a reaction is possible. The game becomes a map-wide battle of vision and positioning, where Spirit Breaker has a bit more control over who and when he fights.
