Centaur Warrunner vs Techies

How this matchup plays

Blinking in for a good Hoof Stomp feels especially dangerous against a Techies. His whole game is about punishing aggressive, predictable initiations. Centaur Warrunner often finds his preferred entry points are already seeded with Proximity Mines, slowing his team's push and forcing them into a different angle. Even if he gets in, a well-placed Stasis Trap can root him in place for a counter-attack, and the silence from Blast Off can interrupt his follow-up from a safe distance. Techies doesn't kill him instantly, but he makes Centaur's primary job much harder to execute cleanly.

This tension defines the mid-game. Centaur wants to accelerate the pace with Stampede and force fights, but Techies slows everything down by controlling key objectives and high ground with his minefields. Centaur's team has to invest time and resources into vision and de-mining before he can find a safe opening. While his natural tankiness and Return damage mean he can often survive the initial mine burst, the consistent disruption to his tempo is what gives Techies the advantage. He’s forced to play a more reactive, cautious game than he would like.
