Centaur Warrunner vs Ursa

How this matchup plays

Trying to man-fight Centaur Warrunner puts Ursa in a tough spot. Ursa relies on getting many attacks off on a single target, but Centaur’s Retaliate punishes him for every hit. This turns Ursa's own burst from Overpower into a source of self-damage, making trades very unfavorable. Because Centaur is naturally so durable, he can often survive the initial onslaught and let the return damage do its work. Ursa is forced to reconsider his primary plan of simply running at and killing his lane opponent.

This edge is only slight because a smart Ursa will learn to avoid hitting Centaur directly. Instead, Ursa will try to find pickoffs on more fragile heroes, using his mobility to flank and burst them down. Centaur’s job then becomes protecting those allies, using Hoof Stomp as a counter-initiation tool or Stampede to help his team reposition away from the threat. The matchup becomes a game of positioning and target selection, where Centaur creates a safe zone that Ursa has to find a way to play around.
