Centaur Warrunner vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Fighting into a Warlock ultimate can be a messy affair. Centaur Warrunner isn't necessarily equipped to clean it up, but he doesn't fold either. The Golems from Chaotic Offering provide exactly the kind of sustained, repeated attacks that cause his Retaliate to chip away at the enemy team. Likewise, while Fatal Bonds is dangerous, placing it on Centaur means Warlock’s team has to focus the most durable hero on the map to get value, which is often a losing trade. Neither hero has a clean, decisive way to shut the other down, leading to drawn-out fights where execution matters more than the heroes themselves.

The matchup often comes down to which hero enables their team's game plan first. Centaur Warrunner wants to find a quick initiation with Blink Dagger and Hoof Stomp, ideally catching Warlock before he can cast his spells. Warlock, on the other hand, prefers a slower, more controlled engagement where he can position himself safely and use Upheaval to punish an enemy advance. A well-timed Stampede can help Centaur’s team disengage from a bad fight or dodge the impact of Chaotic Offering, but a well-placed Golem drop can stop Centaur's initiation in its tracks.
