Chaos Knight vs Kunkka

How this matchup plays

Thinking a wall of illusions will overwhelm Kunkka is a common mistake. His Tidebringer cleave is one of the most efficient ways to clear out Chaos Knight's Phantasm, turning CK's biggest strength into a liability. A well-placed cleave can erase the illusion army before it does any real damage. On the other hand, Chaos Knight only needs to find one opening to win the fight. If he can close the distance with Reality Rift and land a long Chaos Bolt, Kunkka is often too fragile to survive the initial burst, making his illusion-clearing power irrelevant.

This creates a tense cat-and-mouse game across the map. Chaos Knight has to respect the threat of Tidebringer and will try to bait it out or attack from an angle where Kunkka can't easily line up a cleave. In teamfights, Kunkka wants to position himself to hit the illusions and the real hero at the same time, while CK looks for a moment to bypass the frontline and get on top of him. The outcome often depends on which hero gets to execute their primary game plan first, as neither has a definitive way to shut the other down.
