Chaos Knight vs Muerta

How this matchup plays

Fighting Chaos Knight's Phantasm illusions can feel impossible, but Muerta has a direct answer. Her ultimate, Pierce the Veil, makes her immune to the physical damage from CK and his copies, allowing her to turn and kill him while his main damage source is nullified. The matchup isn't that simple, though. Chaos Knight's entire goal is to prevent that from happening. A well-timed Reality Rift into a long Chaos Bolt stun can still kill Muerta before she gets a chance to press the button. This makes it a high-stakes duel of initiation versus reaction.

In practice, this creates a tense standoff across the map. Chaos Knight looks for pickoffs on a vulnerable Muerta, aiming to burst her before she can activate her ultimate or a BKB. Muerta, in turn, prefers to play further back in teamfights, waiting for CK to commit Phantasm on someone else. Once he does, she can pop her ultimate and safely eliminate him while he can't fight back effectively. The game often goes to the side that better enables their carry to initiate the fight on their preferred terms, making it an even contest.
