How this matchup plays

Controlling the map against Chaos Knight often hinges on being able to find and isolate the real hero. Spirit Breaker excels at this by targeting him with Charge of Darkness, which always reveals the original even among Phantasm illusions. This constant threat of a global gank can seriously disrupt Chaos Knight's farming patterns and delay his core items. Furthermore, Spirit Breaker's own survivability is a problem. He can often shrug off a Chaos Bolt stun with a well-timed Bulldoze, letting him either escape or continue his assault without being locked down.

The matchup typically becomes a duel of initiation. A successful Charge from Spirit Breaker, followed up by his team, can leave Chaos Knight dead before he can even use his ultimate. On the other hand, if Chaos Knight and his team can catch Spirit Breaker first, the sheer single-target damage from Reality Rift and a full set of illusions is usually enough to bring him down.
