Chaos Knight vs Sven

How this matchup plays

Thinking Sven's Great Cleave automatically deals with Phantasm illusions is a common oversimplification. While the cleave is certainly effective, Chaos Knight’s entire game plan revolves around instant burst, not a drawn-out illusion fight. His job is to find a target, use Reality Rift to pull all illusions in, and eliminate them during a Chaos Bolt stun. The armor reduction from Rift makes even a farmed Sven vulnerable, and if Chaos Knight gets the jump, Sven can die before he has a chance to activate God's Strength and start cleaving.

The late game becomes a duel of initiation and key cooldowns. A prepared Sven who activates Warcry and God's Strength before getting locked down can withstand the initial burst and turn the fight, melting the illusions and Chaos Knight himself. This forces Chaos Knight to be patient, waiting for Sven to misuse his ultimate or get caught out of position without BKB. Both heroes want to be the one jumping the other, so the fight often comes down to vision, timing, and which team better enables their carry to strike first.
