Chaos Knight vs Undying

How this matchup plays

Fighting into a Tombstone is a special problem for Chaos Knight. His Phantasm illusions will feed zombie spawns, quickly creating a massive swarm that slows and overwhelms his own illusions before they can connect with a target. This can completely stall his signature single-target burst. At the same time, those same illusions give Chaos Knight one of the fastest ways to destroy the Tombstone itself. If he can get his illusions to focus it, the entire threat can be neutralized in seconds. Soul Rip also becomes fully charged in these chaotic fights, turning the tide with a massive heal or nuke.

The lane is often difficult for Chaos Knight, as Undying can bully him with Decay. Later on, teamfights hinge on a single decision. Chaos Knight can try to Reality Rift and eliminate Undying before he can get his spells off, or he can commit his entire Phantasm to bringing down the Tombstone first. Undying's goal is simply to survive and place a good Tombstone, letting the zombies do the work. The outcome depends entirely on which hero executes their plan first, making the engagement a genuine toss-up.
