Crystal Maiden vs Death Prophet

How this matchup plays

Considering Death Prophet to run at towers and win the mid-game often means you have to ban Crystal Maiden first. Death Prophet’s entire game plan with Exorcism relies on being a durable, mobile threat that runs at the enemy. Crystal Maiden counters this directly. A single Frostbite is often enough to lock DP in place and get her killed, even during her ultimate. If Death Prophet does manage to stay alive and commit to a fight, a well-placed Freezing Field will either kill her outright or force a full retreat, completely neutralizing her most important cooldown.

This dynamic shapes every mid-game teamfight. The moment Death Prophet activates Exorcism to siege or fight, Crystal Maiden's team knows exactly what to do. The fight becomes a race: can DP’s team find and kill Crystal Maiden before she can cast her ultimate? For the Death Prophet player, it forces an early Black King Bar purchase just to function, and makes playing from behind feel impossible. CM, on the other hand, can simply play from the back lines and wait for her moment to completely shut down the enemy’s main strategy.
